Zachary See, a former Virginia resident, is an English literature graduate student at Arcadia University. An avid reader, he enjoyed time working for a Virginia library and is currently teaching English courses at Arcadia University. One of Zachary See’s favorite authors is F. Scott Fitzgerald.

F. Scott Fitzgerald is best known for “The Great Gatsby”, commonly taught to American students, and other works such as “This Side of Paradise”. Despite his fame, however, there are still quite a few facts about the writer many people do not know. Here are just a few examples:

Despite showing a talent for writing early in his life, Fitzgerald struggled to receive passing grades in grade school and Princeton University.

Due to his dyslexia, Fitzgerald was known for being a poor speller.

Fitzgerald rarely stayed in a single place for more than a few years. He never owned a home and would regularly move to different cities in an attempt to find enough quiet to write.

Many people know that Fitzgerald was a friend of fellow author Ernest Hemingway, but may not know their friendship was frequently complicated. Hemingway frequently insulted Fitzgerald’s wife Zelda and over time the two friends drifted apart.

When “The Great Gatsby” was released in 1925, it only sold 20,000 copies and was widely considered to be a failure. In World War II 150,000 Armed Service Editions were sent overseas and the book’s popularity grew. The novel now has sales of 500,000 copies each year.

Improving Your Soccer Shooting Ability

Zachary See, of Virginia, is a master’s student at Arcadia University studying English literature. In addition to his studies, he serves as a private tutor and music instructor in Ohio and Virginia, and is senior assistant editor of the “South Asian Review.” In his free time, Zachary See enjoys playing soccer, has been the captain of the Northern Virginia Soccer Team, and volunteers with the West Virginia Passionist Volunteers sports camps.

Shooting a soccer ball into the goal is a key ability for all soccer players, but can often be a challenge. If you want to improve your shooting ability, try checking your technique. Shooting technique is one of the most difficult skills to learn in soccer, so it’s only natural that some players struggle with poor technique. For more power behind your shot, hit the ball with your toes pointed down with your ankle locked. Accuracy can be improved by using a side foot shot, but you lose power.

Once you are confident in your shooting technique, focus on where and when you attempt a goal. Most goalkeepers stand in the middle of the goal, so corner shots have a great chance of scoring. The farther the goalkeeper has to dive, the greater your chances of getting a goal. Shooting from the bottom of the goal gives you the highest chance of scoring, especially shooting from the left side. When there are players in front of you, get loft under the ball for the best chance of a goal. Keep in mind the farther you are from the goal, the more power you will need behind your shot.
